If you are someone who loves Caribbean food and frequents South London, you will be aware of the amazing choice of restaurants and takeaways South of the River Thames. And if your from the other side of the Thames, chances are you would have dined and eaten food from one of these establishments if you have the shared passion of West Indian dishes. However, there’s a spot I have become aware of that looks amazing and offering a Caribbean buffet, it’s well worth the trip wherever you are located!
876 Uptown are based in Croydon and are the only Caribbean Restaurant I know of to provide a buffet service. Specialising in Jamaican cuisine, you can fill you belly with traditional meals such as Curry Goat, Pepper Steak, Oxtail and a range of Chicken based options, as well as Ital options for Vegetarians and Vegans. Of course, there’s a wide array of Fish dishes such as Fried Fish, Pepper Prawn, Ackee and Saltfish and Steam. All of the above are available as main meals.
The buffet takes place from Thursday to Sunday 12-6pm. The menu slightly differs but there is no compromise on quality. I have heard rave reviews the service and about the food available in the buffet – at £20 a head it offers great value. They also provide a delivery service and you can also order online for collection. The restaurant is based on 38A South End, Croydon, London CR0 1DP.
