Nike has recently made headlines as someone at the English FA told them to ‘Just Do it’ and rebrand the St George’s flag. This move has garnered mixed responses. However, another unnoticed rebrand was the ‘Mash up’ of two of their iconic shoes. The classic Nike Tiempo football boot and the Nike Air Max TN have been combined to produce a lifestyle runner that presents an interesting hybrid of the two shoes. The fold-over tongue covering the top of the laces and the Swoosh tick on the side give off some Brazil 1998 vibes and appear suitable for your local Goals 5-a-side pitch until you realise it is an Air Max TN and not designed for Astroturf.
I am unsure about these. I like all the colourways of TNs as it is such a classic design, and the black colourway here looks particularly special. However, the large Nike tick on the side could have been slightly smaller and the shoe appears to look chunky. Additionally, the tongue, something I usually appreciate, looks quite odd in some images. That said, it is growing on me the more I look at it.
The Air Max TN Tiempo shoe is set to retail at £180 on the SNKRS app and Nike.com sometime later this month. It’s one to keep an eye out for, but what do you think about the meshing between football and the Air Max range? Let us know in the comments.
