Caribbean Food Be Thy Medicine – The Culinary Delights Of RapChar Restaurant.

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Rapchar is a new Caribbean restaurant based in Brixton, London opening in 2023 that has been receiving rave reviews. I noticed the buzz every time on 5 separate occasions this year as groups of my friends and associates paid this establishment a visit. And one particular group who dined there recently gave it a big serious ‘forward’. That to me means it’s more than good Caribbean Food, it is the whole dining experience.

The presentation of the meals looks top notch. There’s clearly a very professional touch visually but the quality of the food looks amazing too. There’s a really diverse menu, Halal meat dishes encompassing chicken, oxtail and goat meals and also a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options. And of course, we can’t leave out pescatarian meals that people know and love from a Caribbean kitchen. There are some mouth-watering options available including Lobster and Snapper.

I love the story behind this restaurant. Restaurant owner and head chef Raymond Fowler attended Alpha Boys School, an orphanage in Kingston, Jamaica.12-year-old Raymond decided his future when he declared his desire to become a chef to Sister Mary Goretti, who after asking him what he wanted to be in life and, recognising his spark in his answer, orchestrated his transfer to the culinary-focused St. John Bosco School.

There, Mr. Newton Coote became Raymond’s culinary sensei, nurturing his love for cooking with each lesson. Soon, his skills spilled beyond the school’s kitchen, gracing countless events. These public displays attracted influential voices who recognised his talent, fuelling his dream with their encouragement.

RapChar also offer a catering service so they can bring their experience to your event. Also, they offer a takeaway service which is great if you live in the local area. There are still some end of year promotions available which you can find out more about by visiting their website. I certainly think you should book before even thinking about arriving at the establishment which is based at 30 Brixton Water Lane, London. They are on insta on follow to keep up to date with the latest offers, promotions and information
