Roti Joupa the Mouthwatering flavours of the Caribbean

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Roti Joupa is a Caribbean takeaway located on Goldhawk Road, Shepherds Bush in West London. As you come out of Goldhawk Road train station on the Hammersmith and District line. It is literally opposite the bus stop on the adjacent side of the road.

What is Roti?

How do I know? because I love the food here. Roti Joupa is well known for its tasty roti. Now let’s not mix up the Indian roti with the Trinidadian one. This one is made with chickpeas that are soaked an that are grounded using a chickpea grinder. My gran used to make these and they were the best.

What I love about this place is the food is cooked with love. Each meal is spicy and you can choose the level of spice you can handle. The shrimp curry roti is mouthwatering alongside the curry lamb and stew chicken. They even do a duck curry roti.

For those that don’t eat meat, or want an alternative they have channa(spiced-up chick peas) and curry aloo(Potato). The sides are also extremely tasty. You can add Macaroni pie and hot doubles and Pholourie( consists of fried, spiced split pea and flour dough balls that are served with chutney). All the food is halal.

To wash all that goodness down they have drinks like sorrel, peanut punch and Mauby and if you have a sweet tooth, why not try some tamarind balls. Or some Sweetbread. Roti Joupa does local deliveries or you can collect.

Parking is a bit rubbish around there so make sure you park somewhere that you don’t get a ticket. They have a restaurant/takeaways in Stratford, East London, Hackney, Finsbury and Shepherds Bush. Let us know what you think about this place in the comments section.
