According to Sky Sports News, Chelsea‘s first team coach Mauricio Pochettino has departed Chelsea Football Club. The Argentine coach had a difficult assignment. Chelsea’s large squad depth would have given him food for thought and major headaches at the start of the season. but a chronic injury crises made it difficult for him to really take the club forward in the way he would have hoped. His departure has been described as one ‘by mutual consent’ after a meeting with the key members of the board yesterday evening.

The season was not entirely a disaster but a disappointment for large parts. Towards the end of the season the team built some momentum and looked really good with Cole Palmer winning the FWA Young Player of the Season Award. However, Todd Boehly and the board ultimately did not believe in Pochettino, despite qualifying for European as a result of a strong finish. Pochettino is known as a coach who needs at least 2 seasons to work his magic, as was the case with Espanyol, Southampton and Spurs. However, Chelsea have built a reputation and are not known to be patient, hence deciding to part ways

The West London club have had 4 managers since Todd Boehly took control and the American owner needs to get it right with his next appointment. It is one thing changing managers for success as Roman Abrahamovic was able to dictate. However, it seems that he just gets rid of managers in a hasty fashion. The Blues fanbase will be waiting to see who gets the new head coach role and the club will be looking at candidates as we put this article into print.
