British rapper Stormzy, known for his award-winning music, has teamed up with Adidas for his latest project. Together, they’re expanding the #Merky FC program by creating a cool new hangout in South London. Stormzy and Adidas go way back to when the rapper wore a Red Adidas originals tracksuit top in his breakthrough single ‘Shut Up’
Stormzy, a proud Croydon native, is giving back to his community by helping establish the #Merky FC HQ. This place will be a go-to spot for all sorts of fun activities and community gatherings. With the help of Adidas, Stormzy has transformed the run-down Selhurst Sports Arena into a top-notch football centre from the ground up.
“When I was growing up, we didn’t have anything like this around, so it’s really special to me that we’re providing this facility in Croydon. It’s proper homegrown!”

The #Merky FC HQ, now managed by the Communities First Foundation, will offer London’s youth access to multimedia rooms, game areas, and top-notch football pitches. It’s not just about sports though; the centre will also host monthly events like training sessions and recording studio opportunities for budding young artists.
Thanks to a collaboration between #Merky FC, adidas, and EA SPORTS, the gaming hub is fully loaded with the latest consoles, racing simulators, and computers for endless digital entertainment.
Stormzy couldn’t be more excited about the opening, saying, “I’m thrilled that we’re finally unveiling #Merky FC HQ. Teaming up with Adidas for this has been a dream of mine for ages, and now we’ve got a space that everyone in the neighbourhood can enjoy. When I was growing up, we didn’t have anything like this around, so it’s really special to me that we’re providing this facility in Croydon. It’s proper homegrown!”
You gotta give it to Stormzy. Whilst you may or may not be a fan of his music, he has been laser focused in giving back to his community, whether its supporting students at university or supporting business ventures. Projects like these are needed as I am a strong believer in these community hubs. We need more centres like this to give the youths in the community an opportunity to create and constructively use their time. If you’re as pumped as Stormzy about this, mark your calendars for May 2 when the facility officially opens in Croydon. Don’t miss out—reserve your spot now on the #Merky FC website!
